Problemen met het kniegewricht bij katten. Drie jaar geleden verscheen in Felikat Magazine een artikel in de veterinaire rubriek over aangeboren afwijkingen aan de knieschijf (Ottenschot, 1986). Hierin werd aandacht geschonken aan een probleem dat toen nog maar sporadisch voorkwam bij katten. Ottenschot haalt hierin een aantal van slechts acht katten met patella luxatie (= loszittende knieschijf) aan, die hij tot dan toe in zijn praktijk is tegengekomen. Ik heb een nieuwe plaats gevonden om een tukkie te doen, het is geweldig: op een blauwe stoel. De andere katten vinden het ook een prima slaapplaats dus ik moet snel zijn om het plekje te veroveren voor de anderen het innemen. Mijn personeel heeft een foto van mij gemaakt op de blauwe stoel, ik was net wakker van mijn middagslaapje. Ik vind het heerlijk om een tukje te doen bij Linda op schoot terwijl ze op de bank zit, maar ik heb ook een nieuwe slaapplaats ontdekt: bij Johan op schoot. Alleen houd ik het daar niet zo lang vol want hij zit op een bewegende stoel (schommelstoel) en dat maakt me een beetje duizelig. I like to take a nap on Linda's nap while she is sitting on the couch but I found out that another lap is also perfect for a little nap. Diarrhoea in cats is a frustrating problem for both cats and their owners. We usually use the word diarrhoea to mean loose stool, but it also means increased urgency and frequency. The onset of signs may be sudden, or develop slowly over days or weeks. Cats may behave normally or may become depressed and stop grooming and eating. Signs may also wax and wane. There is only one Mitted brother left, the three other brothers went to their new owners. This fellow is the most quit one of the five Ragdoll babies. I'm going to try to hussle him up, I like that because I want to play with my brother. I like to do things that my staff doesn't like me to do. Some of my favourite things to do, playing in the sheeprugs, hiding playing toys under the fridge and laying in the sun in the fake plant in the diningroom, thats one of my favourites. Gosh, I have to do something, isn't it? It's hard to get my brother into the playing mood, could be an impossible job for me, but I will do all of my power to stir him up. Vooral het doen van dingen die mijn verzorgers niet zo leuk vinden, doe ik erg graag. While it may seem that interest in early spay/neuter is a recent phenomenon, it has not only been talked about, but it has been practiced for over 25 years in North America. Early age altering refers to spays and neuters done between the age of 6 and 14 weeks old. Altering pets between 5 and 7 months of age was established by tradition rather than for any specific medical reason. Years ago, when safe paediatric anaesthetic techniques were not available, waiting until a patient was older increased the safety of surgery. But we no longer need to delay altering for this reason. Also the Ragdoll breed kittens can be neutered at a young age. Not all vets are desexing at young age. There ar ebasicly three reasons to be told one is the lack of experience, second the vet is still using the old guidelines of their practice and the last reason could be that the vet doesn't agree with below information regarding early desexing .....read more.

We found a way to make some noise! Mum tells us its an burglar alarm. It went off by mistake, great system. Ook hebben wij het voor elkaar gekregen om voor extra veel geluid te zorgen. Mam zegt dat het een inbraakalarm is. Een paar dagen later komt een rare tweebenige, die ik nog nooit gezien heb, in onze wereld en de dagen daarna lukt het ons niet meer om dat alarm af te laten gaan. Ondertussen heb ik kennisgemaakt met de andere bewoners van ons huis. De donkere poes Dunya, die mijn mam als kater aanmerkte, Jane (zij is vorige maand 10 jaar geworden), Cherish (nou zo lief is ze niet want ze doet nog altijd lelijk tegen mij). Ook heb ik mijn echte vader gezien, opeens liepen we langs een kamer waar mijn mam zei, dat hij mijn vader was. Zijn naam is, zoals eerder verteld, Bon Jovi en hij is .....lees verder.

Dunya is a blue creme Maine Coon. She was born on 20 October 1998. We received her on 7 January 1999 (almost 12 weeks old and weighing then almost 1300 kilogram). We are her second owners, because of some circumstances she could not stay at her first one. Dunya plays a lot, she is very sweet and attached toward us. In the beginning was lifting her up impossible, it was just like a fish on solid ground. After a while (and lots of patience) it went much better, so there is now no problem anymore. En een paar weekjes later moest ik weer in het ijzeren gevaarte want mijn verzorgers vertelden ons dat we niet genoeg antistoffen in ons lichaam hebben. Mijn verzorgers pakken mij en mijn broers op en zeggen dat we weer een ritje gaan maken. Daar heb ik geen zin in en ik doe mijn uiterste best om uit de vervoersbox te blijven. Telkens als ze mij erin zetten, loop ik lekker hard er weer uit, straks krijg ik weer een flinke hoeveelheid water in mijn lichaampje. Op zondag 5 april organiseerd de Nederlandse Raskatten Vereniging (NRKV) een grote internationale kattententoonstelling. Hierbij zullen meer dan 400 katten van alle rassen zullen strijden om wie de mooiste is. De katten worden beoordeeld worden door een internationale jury (keurmeesters tot uit Afrika zullen alle katten beoordelen aan de rasstandaard). Deze keuring is voor het publiek toegankelijk.
